Risk management and range safety solutions for aerospace.
Accurate measurement in space
At Weibel, we measure flight. Based on industry-leading Doppler radar and advanced digital signal processing technology, our equipment is used in a variety of aerospace industries.
We are dedicated to helping you achieve your goals with minimal risk and maximum safety. From development and production to equipment supply and lifetime service, we are a full-service provider of the most advanced Doppler X-band radar technology.
Multi-frequency, long-range tracking radar systems for space safety
Our ground-based, long-range tracking radar systems are ideal for the precise identification and tracking of spacecraft and satellites, as well as other smaller objects in flight. These include very small debris and microsatellites that could pose a danger to other objects in space.
Our radar systems can track the movement of all types of objects
› Launch vehicles
› Sounding rockets
› Satellites
› Re-entry vehicles
› Boosters
› Debris
› Aircraft
› Unmanned space vehicles
› Balloons
› Reflector satellites
Proven track record
We have tracked space objects since 1996 and have provided Doppler radar technology to NASA since 2004, enabling the agency to track space-based targets accurately.
We have supplied long-range radar tracking systems to key international organizations:
European Space Agency (ESA)
Japanese Aerospace Exploration Company (JAXA)
Korean Aerospace Research Institute (KARI)
Italy’s testing range and rocket launching site (PISQ)
United States Navy
Data for real-time and post-processing analysis
Whatever the conditions, our unique long-range tracking radar systems can measure the velocity and dynamic behavior of one or several moving objects in real time.
Our systems reveal crucial flight data, including velocity, range, azimuth angle, elevation angles and three-dimensional (3D) trajectory. They provide time, space, position and information (TSPI) data for both real-time and post-processing analysis.
Fast set-up
Weibel’s long-range radars incorporate continuous-wave (CW), multi-frequency continuous-wave (MFCW) and frequency-modulated continuous-wave (FMCW) waveforms for optimal performance.
Our radar systems consist of active electronically scanned array (AESA) Doppler radar antennas, high-performance pedestals, real-time multi-object tracking processors and state-of-the-art waveform generators, all controlled from the operator console.
Despite weighing many tons, and occupying the space of a small truck, our long-range tracking radar systems are easily deployable in different locations and can be set up in a few hours.
Intelligent software
Together with our Doppler radar systems, we provide monitoring and analysis control systems. The intelligent user interface allows either manual or automated control of the system’s antenna opening angles, waveforms, power output, servo modes and data-processing algorithms. It works either as a simple configuration for an inexperienced operator or as an advanced mission scenario created by a system specialist.
Advanced integration
All system communications take place using modern Ethernet network configurations. The system also supports a multitude of physical connections and data protocols for target designation and easy integration with third-party systems.
Product portfolio
Weibel’s product portfolio for Space Situational Awareness and Space Surveillance and Tracking is covered by the MFTR-2100 series.
