Forensics
Weibel’s Doppler radar systems are used extensively by police departments and forensic scientists worldwide in forensic investigations.
Radar systems for forensic investigations
Our technology can accurately measure the dynamic behavior of fired projectiles, enhancing ballistic research by measuring the speed of a fired projectile through the entire trajectory.
For example, by reconstructing shooting events, investigators can test if a bullet is lethal, as well as the extent of its penetration and perforation capabilities.
The Weibel SL series includes radars that are suitable for both confined environments, and for measuring the velocity of projectiles over medium-to-long distances.
With a Weibel Doppler radar, you can perform a comprehensive forensic investigation:
- Do shotgun pellets have enough energy after passing through a window to cause lethal wounding?
- What is the velocity of a bullet at a distance greater than the shooting range?
- Will the velocity of a ricochet be sufficient to penetrate/perforate other objects?
- What is the reduction in velocity at the moment of ricochet or after passing through an object?
- Will the bullet remain stable or not?
