Weibel radar systems can operate in transponder mode, which is highly suitable for tracking a specific object and for extremely accurate long-distance tracking.
Weibel transponders are mounted in the tracked object, which receives the radar signal and re-transmits this signal with a user configurable offset frequency.
This allows multiple transponders to be placed on the same single target, but each tracked individually. This is helpful in aerial scenarios where both the aircraft and payload can be tracked prior to any launch, or with a transponder on each wing to provide highly accurate flight dynamics.
